Why I Love To Read
Ever Since I was a young child I loved reading. The best books I read and loved weren’t the one’s we read in school, they were the books I got to read in my free time. It’s important for a child to be exposed to all different kinds of literature especially at a young age so they can unlock a genre they love and are interested in. Reading isn’t just an escape from the everyday but a means of learning new things and taking you to new places you’ve never been before which are all made possible throughout the pages of a book.
Going to the library was and still is a sanctuary for me. My first library card was at the Lakewood Public Library in my hometown of Lakewood, Ohio. To this day I have never walked into a library I didn’t like. Whenever I’m traveling I have to check out all the local bookshops. The trip is not complete without me finding at least one. My favorite library visited to this day remains the Trinity College Library in Dublin, Ireland.
Since 2020 I have kept a literary journal so every time I read a book I look out for inspirational quotes. When I find something as I’m reading that I definitely want to remember I write down the page number. At the end of the book I go back to those page numbers and write down everything inspirational that I don’t want to forget. I can go back to my literary journal and revisit my favorite parts of that book later that I may have forgotten had I not jotted it down.
