Mackinac Island Public Library & The Island Bookstore on Mackinac

One of the most peaceful and serene libraries I’ve ever been to happens to be on the small, quiet, yet peaceful island on Mackinac Island Michigan. Mackinac is known for having a distance of 8.2 miles around the island. I have been here three times now and after biking the full 8.2 miles this trip I decided to reward myself by stopping in this library. The exterior is just as delightful as the interior when you step inside and hear the roaring waves of Lake Huron from behind it. The beautiful teal color transforms the vibes into calm, tranquil, island vibes. This is my third time coming up to Mackinac and I must say this is one of the most underrated attractions that few tourists know is open to the public. They always have an ongoing book sale in the back that is open to the public year round and it is peaceful enough for visitors to get some relaxing quiet time and perhaps read a little bit. I think it is great that there is seating behind the library outside so those who wish to read outside can face Lake Huron as they read in peace. I cannot recommend visiting this library enough if you visit this island whether you are a reading enthusiast or not.

The Island Bookstore on Mackinac has two bookstores on the island. When you go in the bookstore you are instantly drawn to all books Mackinac. I always make sure to stop by and give them business every time I go as I enjoy learning about the beauty and history of Mackinac. Some of my favorites include Four Season of Mackinac, Haunts of Mackinac, and Wish You Were Here. They also have a great selection of children’s books and of course the child in me has three of them because the illustrations were so well done I had to have them. I recommend checking them out by either visiting Mackinac Island (highly recommend, you won’t regret it!) or by visiting their website at: https://islandbookstore.com/collections/mackinac-island-non-fiction?page=1
