My Favorite Self Improvement Book of 2023

Comparison is a slippery road. No matter how much you do, how high you climb, or what you accomplish, there is always someone who has done more, climbed higher, and has more impressive achievements.
— Kristina Mand-Lakhiani

Personal growth and motivational books are always books I gravitate toward because who honestly doesn’t want to be a better version of themselves? I know I certainly do! Sometimes the advice can feel repetitive, but the books that truly stand out offer new ways of thinking and tools you probably haven’t heard about or learned about before.

I recently picked up and read book #55 of 2023, Becoming Flawesome by Kristina Mand-Lakhiani. There were many points that stuck out for me including perfectionism, authenticity, and how you can fall in love with an idea of a person rather than who they really are. That is especially true when you are in a relationship with the wrong person. You can get so blindsided of what you wanted them to be, when all along they were never the right person for you.

Mand-Lakhiani brings up some excellent concepts including the differences between flow/resistance and self care/self love. I love how in depth she talks about honesty. Honesty is a huge quality I value so I really appreciated how she explained the many ways people lie to us and also how sometimes we lie to ourselves. She explained some of the dangers that can come along with comparison. If you need to be uplifted with amazing words of encouragement then this is the book for you!
