My favorite book for the month of April was Behind The Screens: Illustrated Floor Plans and Scenes from the Best TV Shows of All Time by Inaki Aliste Lizarralde who drew the various floor plan sets with contributing author Neal E. Fischer. Their were approximately twenty-five different shows covered that included the summary of the show and the corresponding interior design floor plan. The details were so vivid each one depicting a different color scheme, square footage, furniture, and unique characteristics to the specific set of the sitcom it was depicting. I loved following my way through each house and apartment room by room taking in all of the interior design elements of the specific set. The Friends set which is depicted on the cover was my favorite as I’m a huge fanatic of the show.It was the lengthiest at eight pages long providing the floor sets of Monica and Rachel’s apartment, Central Perk, Phoebe’s apartment, and Ross’ apartment. Other floor plans I enjoyed and loved that stood out to be include the floor sets of sitcoms such as The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Little House on the Prairie, The Office, Ugly Betty, Sex and the City, and Gilmore Girls. This is a must read for all design and sitcom fans alike. You might just find a couple more binge-worthy television shows to add to your list just like I did after reading summaries of shows I haven’t seen before, but that I definitely want to check out!
