May 2024 Books

Just a friendly reminder: Nothing about you is a mistake. You are a gift and you are here for a reason. Life does not always hand us the easy road. We are not born knowing the best way to navigate the worst circumstances. We are more than our mistakes. Our mistakes do not make us bad people. Our mistakes introduce us to our best selves
— Cleo Wade

My favorite book in the month of May was Heart Talk by Cleo Wade. The stylistic writing of the book was poetic, yet informative to the reader. It spoke to the soul and literally got to the heart of the matter. The words were encouraging, uplifting, and inspiring. One piece of advice that really resonated with me is that you have to be your own best friend. I think a lot of people have a hard time finding peace in their solitude but I feel like I really thrive in this area. This is how I recharge and refresh my batteries so I can have energy to show up for my family, friends, schoolwork, and job. I have so many solo hobbies including reading, yoga, Pilates, and building LEGO sets. Wade emphasizes that once you become great at becoming your own best friend to share that peace and those hobbies with others. I feel connected with others when I go to tap class, play tennis, and host game nights with my friends. Overall the heart and theme of this matter is that no matter what you are going through, you are so deserving of love and you are more than the past mistakes you have made.
